Creative Collaboration: How The Mosaic Team Brought Their New Office Walls to Life With a Corporate Painting

When international insurance firm Mosaic were preparing to move to their brand new offices in central London there were many decisions to make. But one thing that was never considered was how could they get all of their team to be a part of its design. Short of pulling their overalls on and picking up a roller there was no way to integrate people and space.

That was until I met Delia (global operations and office manager) and colleagues at the Christmas Show held by We Are Story Events.

And suddenly it all made sense - their team - their design - their brand - all coming together to sit proudly on their new wall. A corporate team painting was exactly what they needed.

"The artwork Emma facilitated for Mosaic Insurance is the pièce de résistance of our new London office.

It tells a meaningful story about Mosaic that's both visual and symbolic, depicting a large, multi-colored orb over city landmarks that represents our eight offices worldwide.

The creation of the large acrylic on canvas is greater than the sum of its (many) pieces: after Emma completed the initial sketch, each sliver of the globe was painted in a panoply of styles by Mosaic employees during a team-building evening.

The artwork was finally installed in our new lobby as a standout reminder of the bold, collaborative fun that comprises our corporate values and speaks to the art of what we do every day."

The design process started with conference calls about ideas and branding. We wanted it to represent the branding, logo, global enterprise and with a nod to the seven cities Mosaic has offices in around the world. After tweaks and edits the final design was approved. I then got to work prepping the 1.6x1.6m canvas ready for the team to add their part. Then in their old office after work the team got together for a afterwork/evening soiree and paint session! Drinks, paint and snacks aided the creativity of the London team. The artwork was then neatened, enhanced and framed back at my studio before delivery and installation back at the new offices ready for the opening party.
