The consultation

Via another wedding I had worked at, Nick’s parents learnt about me and my offer. They

decided to buy our service for the couple as a wedding present.

During the consultation I discovered the couple loved their travels and adventures together. They showed me photos of inspiration of beaches from Sri Lanka and China. They also had a strong connection with the ocean (Nick’s dad having a sailing boat) and loved the paintings of Cornish seascape artist Jethro Jackson.

The couple also were keen to go with bright abstract colours with reds and pinks, blues and

greens.

Colour inspiration

I offered 3 designs based on their inspirations and the couple decided on the open beach

scene and asked for a boat inspired by Nick’s dads to be included.

The Wedding day

Bury Court near Farnham is a wonderful big barned venue nestled in the Hampshire

countryside. I set up ready for the arrival of the guests for the drink reception. The ceremony was held off site so I set up in the main hall ready for 2pm. With the Masterpiece package there are up to 6 hours at the venue is included so we split this time. I stayed from 2-4pm for the drinks reception and then took a break whilst the wedding breakfast took place and then started again 6-8pm. This allowed us to capture the early evening but didn't interfere too much with the evening party atmosphere.

After the wedding

I worked on the piece, editing and enhancing the design. They asked to have their wedding date painted on the front of the canvas and for me to name the boat THE FAWCETTS. After that I created a mock up of the design in black and white frames for the newlyweds to choose from. White was chosen and once the painting was finished it was taken to my framers for its finishing touches.

The best photos taken on the day were added to a photo book alongside the guest's signatures and comments.

And here is the finished piece.

The couple said…

“Just wanted to say thank you for Saturday - everyone was saying how great the painting experience was and what a good idea it was!

“Thank you so much - it is absolutely amazing and we are both completely bowled over by having this beautiful and personal work of art in our living room! Thank you also for the book and the signatures/messages - they’re all such lovely touches!”
