Chris and Daniel discovered my event online and I was thrilled to be asked to join them on their day. Through a bit of Instagram stalking the couple found they were more drawn to the freehand floral canvases I had previously done. We decided to place the mood board around British meadow flowers and taking our colour inspiration from the venue’s interiors. I put together some floral design compositions to take inspiration from and a colour palette suggestion.
The couple decided upon a meadow style composition with flowers coming up from the base. We also decided to incorporate the moon background which suited the colour palette with the more jewel like tones. From the original palette we decided to omit the lighter pinks.
With the free hand designs - there is a bit more of an element of trust in terms of predicting what outcome will happen.
So, I set out putting down the base layer of the painting. The free hand approach works on the idea that the painting is made up of 3 layers. I do the base work, your guests do layer 2 and my finishing touches are layer 3. The base layers help build up depth within the painting allowing detail and interest within the piece.
The day
The Randolph is a luxurious opulent hotel in the central of Oxford. We joined the drinks reception at 430pm and stayed until 8pm.
The guests were fabulous - we had inspiration sheets and easy mark making samples available to inspire. One family also creatively cut out an ET reference and we tacked it to the moon. A removable little fun add on!

The finishing touches
Back at my studio I added the 3rd layer of flowers to the piece and edited a few florals that needed attention. Chris and Daniel collected the canvas from my studio.

Emma and Make Your Mark Events provided us with such an incredible service, I could not recommend them highly enough. It is such a unique concept, none of our guests had seen anything like it at a wedding before and the end product is beautiful and a really special memory from the day that everyone contributed to. The canvas will have pride of place in our home forever.
