Paris, Paint, and Croissants: Bringing Team Art to the City of Lights

Last week, I swapped my usual UK backdrops for the dreamy streets of Paris. Yep, baguettes and all! But this wasn’t just a family trip (though, trust me, we did plenty of touristy stuff). I was there to help a brilliant team mark a big milestone—the opening of their brand new office—with a collaborative painting experience they’d never forget.

The brief: get everyone involved

The company wanted something special for their office, something that shouted “this is us!” and made everyone feel part of the story. So, we rolled out a huge canvas, set up paints, and invited every team member to add a symbol that meant something to them or captured what they love about their work. No art skills needed (promise!). Just a willingness to make their mark.

Parisian moments, creative magic

There’s something about Paris that makes you want to create. Maybe it’s the light, or maybe it’s the pastries. Either way, seeing the team dive in—some nervous, some excited, all up for a laugh—reminded me why I love this work. It’s not just about art, it’s about connection. Each mark told a story, built a memory, and by the end of the session, that blank canvas looked like a celebration of who they are together.

The finishing touch

Once the paint dried (and a few croissants had been eaten), I took the canvas back to my studio. That’s where the real transformation happens—I blend all the individual touches into a piece of fine art that’s bold, personal, and totally unique. Something the team can hang in their office and say, “We did this. Together.”

Family, food, and a bit of magic

Of course, I couldn’t go to Paris and not take my family along! We squeezed in plenty of sightseeing (hello, Eiffel Tower selfies), ate our weight in macarons, and soaked up the city’s creative buzz. Work and life, perfectly blended—just how I like it.

  • Why collaborative art works for teams

    • It gets everyone involved, no matter their job or art experience

    • It’s a fun, low-pressure way to connect and build memories

    • And at the end, you get a piece of art that’s full of meaning—not just for now, but for years to come

So, would I recommend mixing business with Parisian pleasure? 100%. If you want your team’s creativity to shine (and an excuse for a pain au chocolat), you know who to call!

Have you ever tried team art? Or visited Paris with your crew? Drop your best tip or favourite memory below—I’d love to hear!

This is an incredibly helpful guide to cracking the wallcovering code! Breaking down the selection process into the three core pillars of color, pattern scale, and texture makes it so much easier for anyone to visualize how a room can be transformed without feeling overwhelmed. I especially love the insight on how vertical patterns can effortlessly create the illusion of higher ceilings, and how textured materials like grasscloth not only hide wall imperfections but also offer natural sound-dampening qualities. The way you articulate these design principles is so clear that it could easily serve as foundational material for anyone studying interior architecture. For design students or scholars inspired to write a formal research paper on the psychological impacts of spatial…

The Paris paint and croissants event sounds like a creative mix of art and teamwork, bringing people together through shared experiences in a beautiful setting. It reminded me of algebra revision when I was struggling with multiple deadlines at once. I used take my online algebra exam to ease one part of the pressure so I could focus better on other subjects.  It really highlights how both food systems and learning systems work better when they are more balanced and supportive.
